Creating Synesthetic Experience


Pulsating rhythms beat you in the chest in a dark room. Blurred bodies, edges made thin through smoke and flashing lights. Moving together. Whatever this space was, it is gone. Whatever this time was, it is gone. Transformed in totality. The mind reaching forwards into the future, or back into memory, is caught, and brought into the present by the overwhelming intensity of the beat.

Exploring the interaction between light, sound, form and motion – and the ways in which these have the potential to elicit transcendent experience

We are ShadowWorks – a collective working within the medium of immersive audiovisual installations, exhibits and events. Simultaneously using light as a visual focus, sculptural medium and to cast light and shadows into space, our journey is of exploration and discovery.

Coming from a deep musical background, we naturally draw from concepts such as rhythm, tone and timbre, harmony, and tension and release, accentuating and blending the lights with the sounds and rhythms of music, but also informing our visual composition style as we work with geometry and form, imagining how the lights would sound themselves.

Holistic Design Approach

Our natural inclination to work with the unique geometry and architecture of the environments we occupy leads to fresh design discoveries.

Musical Background

We understand how integral music and visuals are to each other, and our musical backgrounds directly inform our process every step of the way.

DIY Ethos

Self-built lighting rigs, underground parties in tunnels and warehouses. Futuristic tech with DIY ethos. Transforming spaces from the familiar to the fantastical. But by no means compromising on quality.
